Perfusion

MRI Perfusion
  • Perfusion MRI is an important tool in assessing stroke, brain tumours, and neurodegenerative diseases.
  • It is a type of brain test that shows the amount of blood taken up in certain areas. It can provide information on how your brain is functioning.
  • Before the preparation for an MRI Scan, you should inform doctor about any metallic objects, such as plates or implants in your body.
  • During the perfusion scan, a health care provider injects contrast/dye into your vein. You will lie on the movable table that runs in a scanner. The scan will be obtained.
  • The brain perfusion scan can show which areas of your brain received most of the blood flow. It lets your doctor know which areas of your brain are under perfused. And receive less blood supply.
